Charles and Richard’s Wedding at Stationers’ Hall: A Night of Disco, Soul and Unforgettable Moments

There are weddings you just know are going to be special from the moment you walk in. Charles and Richard’s celebration at Stationers’ Hall in London was one of them.

I was delighted to be booked as their wedding DJ through Mighty Fine Events to provide the music for their evening reception. Stationers’ Hall is one of London’s hidden gems. Centuries of history combined with an elegance that feels both grand and genuinely welcoming. The perfect backdrop for a brilliant night.

A Beautiful First Dance

As the opening notes of Dedicated To The One I Love by The Mamas & The Papas filled the room, Charles and Richard stepped onto the dancefloor. It was intimate, joyful, and full of love. Their guests watched as the couple shared that moment together before being invited to join them. It set the perfect tone for what came next.

Building the Energy

What I loved about working with Charles and Richard was how clear they were about the vibe they wanted. They didn’t just hand me a playlist. They told me a story about the music they loved and the atmosphere they wanted to create.

The evening started with soul classics that got people moving without forcing it. Luther Vandross, Sister Sledge, Earth Wind & Fire, Chaka Khan. The kind of music that makes you want to move.

Then came the disco section. Never Too Much, I Feel Love, Blame It On The Boogie, You To Me Are Everything, Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough. The dancefloor filled up and stayed full.

The ABBA moment was brilliant. Take A Chance On Me, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, Voulez-Vous. Those are the songs that get everyone singing together, and that’s exactly what happened.

Later in the evening, we shifted into 90s dance classics. Rhythm Is A Dancer, Rhythm Of The Night, What Is Love, Show Me Love, Freed From Desire. It kept the energy high and gave guests of all ages reasons to stay on the dancefloor.

The evening closed with Donna Summer’s Last Dance, because some songs just have to be the final word.

What Made It Work

Every couple wants the same thing. A full dancefloor, smiling faces, and a room full of people genuinely enjoying themselves together. Charles and Richard got exactly that because they were clear about what mattered to them, and we built the night around it.

That’s what I aim for every time.

Wedding DJ London: A Vegan Wedding at The Spread Eagle, Homerton

There’s something special about a wedding where everything just feels right.

As a vegan wedding DJ in London, this was a day that felt completely aligned from start to finish

For Jannah and James, their day at The Spread Eagle in Homerton wasn’t just a celebration, it was a reflection of who they are. Relaxed, full of personality, and completely aligned with their values. As London’s first 100% vegan pub, it was the perfect setting for a wedding that felt different in all the right ways.

And as the UK’s first vegan wedding DJ and host, it was a real privilege to be part of it.

A Calm Start That Set The Tone

From the moment guests arrived, the focus was on making everyone feel welcome.

Wedding host and MC leading guests at London vegan wedding at The Spread Eagle

My role as host and MC meant I was there to guide the flow of the day, working closely with the venue to keep everything running smoothly while keeping things relaxed and natural.

  • Welcoming guests
  • Helping the team behind the scenes
  • Making introductions that felt personal, not formal

It’s about creating a space where the couple can just enjoy it all.

There was even a moment where I had to step in and gently redirect someone who missed the “private function” sign. One of those little things that could have disrupted the atmosphere, handled quickly so the focus stayed exactly where it should be.

On Jannah and James.

A First Dance That Meant Something

Their first dance wasn’t just a moment, it was something they had put time into.

Rehearsed. Thought about. Made their own.

As the music started, the room naturally came together. You could feel everyone leaning in, sharing that moment with them.

That’s what a great first dance does. It connects the room before the party even begins.

From Moments To A Proper Party

Once the dancefloor opened, everything lifted.

The energy built naturally, moving through different eras and styles so everyone felt part of it.

Why This Wedding Worked So Well

It wasn’t about overcomplicating things.

It was about creating an experience that felt right for them.

A venue that matched their values
A relaxed, well-guided flow to the day
Music that brought everyone together
Space for real moments to happen naturally

That’s what people remember.

Not just how it looked.
But how it felt.

Real Wedding: Lucy & Alex’s Wedding at The Fable, Holborn

Wedding DJ London

Bride & Groom having fun with London Wedding DJ Ian Stewart

On Saturday I had the absolute pleasure of being the wedding DJ in London for Lucy & Alex’s incredible celebration at The Fable in Holborn,  once again I was representing Mighty Fine Events From the very first dance to the very last track, their wedding was full of fun, laughter and a dancefloor that stayed packed all night long.

Lucy & Alex chose the soulful Etta James song “Steal Away” for their first dance, a beautiful and heartfelt moment that set the perfect tone for the evening. Guests gathered round to cheer them on, and it was a memory everyone will treasure.

As their London wedding DJ, my goal was to create a soundtrack that reflected their personalities and kept energy high. The mix of soul, disco, indie, and modern party anthems had every generation on their feet. One of the standout moments came when Harry Belafonte’s “Jump The Line” played. Without any planning, Lucy & Alex led their guests into a spontaneous conga line that wound its way around the venue, pure joy and exactly what a wedding party should feel like.

The rest of the evening was filled with sing-along favourites and dancefloor anthems. From Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ On A Prayer” and The Killers’ “Mr Brightside” to Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Murder On The Dancefloor” and ABBA’s “Dancing Queen”, every track added to the atmosphere. Guests laughed, sang, and danced together right through until the very end.

Being part of Lucy & Alex’s wedding was a reminder of why I love what I do. As a professional wedding DJ in London, I bring more than just music, I bring energy, flow, and those unforgettable moments that couples and guests will talk about for years to come.
